About

Dr Choo Boon Hock obtained his medical degree from National University of Malaysia in 1999. Subsequently he went his specialist training in Selayang Hospital. He gained vast exposure in treating sick babies during his training in the hospital. The hospital provided wide exposure in general paediatric, neonatology, paediatric neuorology, paediatric respiratory, paediatric nephrology, paediatric rheumatology and paediatric gastroenterology. He obtained his specialist qualification in Paediatrics from the Royal College of Child Health & Paediatrics in United Kingdom in 2006. He was awarded Specialist Accreditation in Paediatrics by the Ministry of Health Malaysia. He was also accredited by the National Specialist Register committee. Following his graduation as a paediatrician, he worked as a paediatrician in the tertiary paediatric unit in Selayang Hospital and Hospital Pakar Sultanah Fatimah. From 2008 until 2010, he received his felloship training in Paediatric Cardiology in Sarawak General Hospital and KK Women’s & Children’s Hospital in Singapore.Among the awards he received were Dean’s List Award for Final Preossional Exam from Medical Faculty of Medicine, National University of Malaysia and Public Service Excellence Awards in 2005. In 2007, he was again nominated by the head of department for Public Service Excellence Awards. He is also actively involved in clinical research. He presented his research on the treatment of patient ductus arteriosus during the 14th Annual Perinatal Congress of Malaysia in 2007. Three of his papers were selected and presented at the 5th World Congress of Paediatric Cardiology & Cardia Surgery in Cairns, Australia. In KK Women’s & Children’s Hospital, he was involved in collation and analysis of research paper on angioplaty for coarctation of the aorta.
