Dr. Chan is Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon at the Sarawak Heart Centre, and at Normah Medical Specialist Centre, Norneo Medical Centre and Kuching Specialist Hospital in Kuching, Sarawak. He is also Hunterian Professor at the Royal College of Surgeons of England in London, U.K. and Honorary Senior Clinical Research Fellow at the National Heart and Lung Institute at Imperial College London, U.K..

He has a large clinical practice in the full range of adult cardiac and thoracic surgery, including coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery, aortic, aortic valve, mitral and tricuspid valve surgery, mediastinal surgery, lung surgery, pleural surgery and video assisted thoracoscopic (VATS) surgery.
