About

Dr Christopher Lee graduated from the University Malaya with his MBBS and subsequently obtained his MRCP (UK) in 1989. He trained in Infectious Diseases at the Regional Infectious Diseases Unit, City Hospital in Edinburgh, Scotland from 1993-1994 and since his return from the UK, he has served as a Infectious Diseases physician at Hospital Kuala Lumpur till 2006. He now heads the Infectious Diseases Unit and the Department of Medicine at Hospital Sungai Buloh.

Dr Lee is the National Advisor for Infectious Diseases in the Ministry of Health (MOH), Malaysia and helms the MOH Fellowship Training Program for Infectious Diseases. He also chairs the National Infection Control Working committee and the National HIV/ AIDS Treatment Registry; both of which are under the auspices of the Ministry of Health Malaysia. He sits on numerous committees in the MOH including the National Infection and Antibiotic Control Committee and is the Editor of the National Antibiotic Guidelines.

Dr Lee has been an active member in several professional societies as well as non-governmental organizations. He has served as a council member of the International Society of Infectious Diseases and is the immediate Past President of the Malaysian Society of HIV Medicine. He has also been a council member of the Global Hygiene Council since 2005. He is also one of the founding members of the TREAT ASIA HIV Network supported by AmFAR.

He served for many years in the executive committee of the Malaysian AIDS Council and was elected as its Vice President from 2002-2006. He is also the founding president of the Kuala Lumpur AIDS Support Society (KLASS). His passion and commitment for HIV/ AIDS treatment have landed him numerous awards, such as the “Dr Siti Hasmah Red Ribbon Award” in 1998.
